Dems Prepare for ‘2K Party’
October 21st, 2005

The streamers are curled. The confetti is ready. The ball is ready to drop. You can almost smell the sense of giddiness coming from DNC members, as they prepare for the ‘2k Party.’ According to the Associated Press, the current tally of U.S. military deaths in Iraq since the beginning of the war currently stands at 1,992.

“Hitting the big 2-K will be an exciting time for us,” said a passing Democrat who preferred to remain anonymous. “Sure, two-thousand is just an arbitrary number, but it will be a great launching point for our ‘Withdraw the Baby-Killers’ t-shirts’ sales campaign. ...

I can't even imagine what it's like to hope for more American deaths, but there are without a doubt people in this country who do. They look like normal human beings and describe themselves in harmless sounding terms like "Liberal" and "Reporter," but they're there just the same. Maybe you even know some of them.

Update: I'd hoped when I linked to that Penguin Proletariat post that it was all a sick joke. According to LGF and Michelle Malkin there really are people that sick. And they pass themselves off as human.

Update 2: Don't miss this post at A Soldier's Perspective. (Hat tip: Media Lies)

funny. I haven't heard anything about a party. what a disgusting thought. of course there would be no such thing by any americans. go on and keep painting those broad strokes with your big paintbrush of truth. *rolls eyes*

Not only was it a joke, but it was a poor joke written by a conservative wingnut much like yourself. Did you choose not to understand that or are you too stupid? Malkin's declaration is akin to saying that a family's funeral for a fallen soldier is the same as "partying over his grave." Shame on Malkin and shame on you.

Sorry you two previous commenters, but it's been clear for some time that there are those who hate what's being done in Iraq and Afghanistan. Freedom is anathama to them, anything that doesn't support what's going on there to free the region from despotic governments seems to get a large measure of support from the so-called anti-war people. Many of them are not anti-war, they are just on the other side. Are you two? Scott G

They aren't parties. THe only people calling them that are pro-war people. These are memorials. You know what those are? To mourn the dead and pray for no more? Start getting your facts straight.

Everyone, the American Friends Service Committee, the group that LGF linked to, was founded by the Quakers in 1917. It's the Quakers for crying out loud and they aren't planning any parties. They are planning vigils. Do you not know that one of the tenants of the Quakers is pacifism? Sheesh. You should really check these things before you start huffing and puffing.

Vigils aren't parties. Malkin and Johnson are unprincipled liars, and you were fooled by a bad piece of satire.
