A Useful Death
So far I've done my best to ignore the Cindy Sheehan issue. My first reaction when the MSM started trying to turn her (not her son, who really was, but her) into some sort of hero was to think "I guess grieving mothers are entitled to their own form of PTSD." Then when Michelle Malkin and others started researching her history a little and I learned she'd been a full-blown anti-war, anti-Semitic, Bush-hating Leftist even before her son's tragic death, my reaction was amazement that a young man raised by such a mother had somehow grown up to be a fine, honorable career Soldier in spite of her influence. At that point I was still willing to hope that if we all just ignored her she'd go away and quit dishonoring her son's memory like she is. Unfortunately the maggots have found a willing host and she's not showing any signs of planning to do that soon. As often happens, while I was still trying to figure out what to say about the situation fellow Viet Nam vet Russ Vaughn did a better job of summing up the situation than I could ever hope to. As Russ emailed, "I've tried to give this woman benefit of the doubt and she and mainstream media keep cramming it back down my throat. I've had it with her. " So have a lot of us Russ. So have a lot of us. Click here to see my entire Russ Vaughn collection. (You'll be glad you did.) As always, thank you Greyhawk for the Open Post. |
