Do I have the right to speak my mind? Do you?

Markos Moulitsas (Daily KOS), Michael Krempasky (Redstate.org) and some unnamed coconspirators  managed to get along long enough to organize an online coalition to try to put a stop to the threatened suppression of your rights and mine that I mentioned here. Please click here to read the coalition's letter to the chairman of the Federal Election Commission, then start here and follow the links to learn more about the situation.  Anything Moulitsas and  Krempasky, former Kerry campaign staffer Peter Daou (The Daou Report), Michelle Malkin,  Jerome Armstrong (MyDD), Ed Morrissey (Captain's Quarters), Glenn Reynolds (Instapundit) and yours truly can all agree on isn't about left vs. right, conservative vs. liberal, Democrat vs. Republican, hawk vs. ostrichdove, or anything else except the people of the United States vs. a bunch of power hungry Washington bureaucrats. If we let them ignore the First Amendment, what's next? How much longer will any of our constitutional rights have any meaning? It's time to take a stand, people. Go sign the letter. Now!

On a related note, don't miss this either.

Update: This feels like a good time to link to Greyhawk's latest "Mudlinks" post and try to get some more people to sign the letter.

Update 2: More here, here, here and here.

I can't believe that we've actually reached the point where the FEC is considering whether or not to count hyperlinks as campaign contributions, but I guess this is the insanity you get when the Supreme Court upholds something as blatantly... [Read More]
