Iraqi security forces foil an attack by 40 terrorists in the village of Abu Mustafa

Greetings,

The following is a translation of a headline and article in the February 10th edition of the Iraqi Arabic newspaper “Nahrein”

“Iraqi security forces foil an attack by 40 terrorists in the village of Abu Mustafa”

“Iraqi security forces foiled a trap set for a local security patrol by 40 terrorist in the village of Abu Mustafa south of Baghdad. After a confrontation between the two sides, the terrorists fled to a near by school. The Iraqi security forces among other forces pursued the terrorists and surrounded the school. The ensuing gun battle resulted in the killing of 12 terrorists and the arrest of 30 more. Mr. Thair Alnaqeeb the official spokesman of the Iraqi prime minister said: “The Iraqi security forces are specially empowered since the elections, with the strong popular support by the Iraqi people, due to the tenacity and courage they showed during the elections”. Iraqi forces will no longer wobble in the face of terrorists who are trying to shake the security of Iraq and veer Iraqis from their path to democracy.”

My comments:

Iraqi security forces have bravery and tenacity. Now with our training and support they will bring the terrorist to heal and justice. Our president’s and the Iraqi president’s insistence on keeping the elections on time is reaping tremendous dividends in the improvement of Iraqi security and in increasing the confidence of the Iraqis and their security forces. Once they tasted freedom there is not putting Iraqis down. They will and are fighting for their freedom.

Can anyone in Mass read? If so a copy of this needs to be sent there so that person can read it to their two Senators. Both keep saying that the Iraquis are not fighting for their freedom. Of course this is not the first news item about Iraqui troops fighting the foreign terrorists; and it is this that causes me to think maybe no one in Mass can read.

Great article Bill, knowing that this is ideologically incorrect for some Senators, I can't help but wonder if the Prince of Chappaquidick is sober enough to see this as Iraqi's putting the terrorists to the sword.
