A Warrior's Last Request -- Additional Information
This post is a continuation of my "A Warrior's Last Request" post below. Part of this post is from an article that I linked to from my earlier post but just didn't feel up to doing anything with at the time. (Damn it, Bill! Compared to the sacrifices America's Warriors are making for you every day, what right do you have to not "feel up to" doing whatever little bit you can for them?) A tip of the hat to Curt at Flopping Aces for pointing me toward some additional information I didn't have before.
From a Burlington County Times article: Services set for soldier killed in Iraq By PAUL LEAKAN AND DANIELLE CAMILLI Burlington County Times
MAPLE SHADE [N.J.] -- Funeral services for U.S. Army Spc. David P. Mahlenbrock, who was killed in Iraq on Friday, will be held here Sunday and Monday before the township native is laid to rest Wednesday at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia.
Family and friends may call Sunday from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Inglesby-Givnish Funeral Home, 600 E. Main St. in Maple Shade. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 26 Forklanding Road.
Mahlenbrock will be buried with full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery on Wednesday at 10 a.m..
Mahlenbrock, 20, was killed when an improvised explosive device detonated while he was clearing a route in Iraq, according to the U.S. Department of Defense.

Soldiers' Angels, a Nevada-based nonprofit organization that seeks to support U.S. military personnel and their families, is still attempting to convince country music star Toby Keith to personally sing "American Soldier" during Mahlenbrock's funeral.
Mahlenbrock requested that the song be played during his funeral in a letter he wrote to his fellow squad members July 1.
Viktoria Carter, director of public relations for Soldiers' Angels, said she has been in contact with Keith's managers about the proposal.
Carter said she and other members of Soldiers' Angels have already begun calling country-and-western radio stations in various parts of the United States to request that they play "American Soldier" at 1 p.m. Wednes-day.
The song would be dedicated to Mahlenbrock.

From the Honolulu Starbulletin.com article I linked to in my earlier post: Russell Mahlenbrock and his son, Spc. David P. Mahlenbrock, looked forward to raising their children together.
"He thought it was great," said Russell Mahlenbrock yesterday in a phone interview from Maple Shade, N.J. "He had said, 'Wow, Dad, you're having a kid, I'm having a kid."
"We kind of planned (on having) a lot of barbecues and watching the kids grow up together," the elder Mahlenbrock said.
Mahlenbrock had recently celebrated the birth of his fourth son, several weeks after celebrating the birth of his first grandchild, David's first kid.
But now David will not be there for the barbecues, and he won't get to watch his daughter, Kadence, and youngest brother, Darek, grow up together.
[...]
According to a New Jersey newspaper, the Camden Courier-Post, David Mahlenbrock was able to see his daughter, now 10 weeks old, for the first time recently during a brief visit to New Jersey.
But he returned to Iraq before meeting his youngest brother, Darek, who was born on Nov. 14.

Mahlenbrock is survived by wife Melissa; daughter Kadence; father Russell; brothers Chris, Andrew and Darek; and stepmother Elizabeth.
In case you missed it earlier, David's family and friends are asking radio stations to play Toby Keith's "American Soldier" on the 15th at 1pm EST with a dedication to Specialist David Mahlenbrock.
In case you missed it above: "Mahlenbrock leaves behind his wife, Melissa, and their 10-week-old daughter, Kadence."
If you haven't read my "Caring for Those Left Behind" post, now would be an excellent time.
Update: Continued here.
