Kerry team slams reports VP Cheney had a flu shot

PITTSBURGH, (AFP) -Senator John Kerry's presidential campaign slammed Vice President Dick Cheney , a heart patient, over reports he had a flu shot, despite a shortage of the vaccine.

[...]

Cheney would fit into the government's definition of those most vulnerable to a looming influenza epidemic as he has a long history of heart disease.

[...]

Hat tip: Drudge

OK, so let's see if I have this straight. One of the most important members of the U.S. government, a man with a history of heart disease, got a flu shot. And that some sort of crime?

I'm not going to have a flu shot. I wouldn't want to take that dose away from a child or someone older and sicker than me. On the other hand, I'm not one heartbeat from being the most powerful man in the world. If, Lord forbid, something should happen to render President Bush unable to perform his duties, I want Dick Cheney ready and able to step into the breach, not withstanding the fact that Jean Fraud Kerry and crowd would prefer to see him dead. I don't think that's the least bit unreasonable.

Something it just occurred to me I haven't seen yet: a statement that Kerry hasn't received and won't receive a flu shot.  Does anyone know if he has? How about queen-in-waiting Teresa? If I had to place my bet right now, I'd bet they were both inoculated in Europe with the hope that word wouldn't get out back home. Can anyone supply any facts in the case? (Don't waste your time and mine trying to tell me Jean Fraud and Ms Heinz-skerry are such nice people I shouldn't be so suspicious. One more thing I like better about TypePad than Blogger is that when I delete a comment it doesn't even leave a trace.)

Update: Michelle Malkin has more.

I agree- Cheney deserves a vaccine. I was wondering this morning if Bush and/or Kerry were getting one.
