It's not all that complicated, folks.
John McCain wants to change DC, Barack Obama wants to change America.
One candidate believes in and cares about this country, one doesn't.
It's your vote. Make it count.

Moonbats on the march: It’s bigger than Iraq
Bryan Preston

Michelle and I joined about a thousand patriots who came to Washington on Saturday to protect our war memorials and to show the world that Cindy Sheehan doesn’t speak for most Gold Star families or even most Americans. It was an honor to be among so many good folks who give of their own time and money to show up and support our troops when they could be doing something else. But as inspiring as the Gathering of Eagles III was, the fact is, we were outnumbered. The other side had more people, were better organized and enjoy better financing, mainly because there is no right-wing equivalent of George Soros who will commit any resources to the cause and because we have no single national organization or voice on our side who will champion the Eagles. One or two patriots in the right place could make all the difference in the world. But instead of seeing photos of patriots supporting the troops: ...

Let us win
John Lynch

The dynamic in Iraq has changed, but more important is the dynamic in America. ...

The military is the most respected institution in the country. By bypassing the political leadership (anyone seen Sec. Gates lately?) they are using that influence to make the war about them rather than the President. They're saying "OK, so there was no WMD. The war was run badly by Bush and Rumsfeld. But now the professionals are running it and we're starting to win. Let us finish the job. You don't like them, but you respect us. Don't let us down, like you did in Vietnam." ...

As John McCain pointed out Saturday, some big mistakes were made on the road to where we are now. Don Rumsfeld was stupid not to remember how well 'search and destroy" worked in Nam and George Bush was stupid not to fire his ass as soon as things hit the fan in '04, if not before. That's all water over the dam, now. The question isn't "How did we get here?" it's "Where do we go from here. As Bryan pointed out in that first post above, it's bigger than just Iraq. The fate of this country for decades to come, if not longer, depends on finishing the job in Iraq. We finally have a general in charge who knows what he's doing. It's time to listen to him.

Gates: Veto Senate plan on troops
By Eric Pfeiffer

Defense Secretary Robert M. Gates said he would advise President Bush to veto a Senate proposal that would effectively force a major drawdown of American forces in Iraq.

The proposal, sponsored by Sen. James H. Webb Jr., Virginia Democrat, that would require that troops be given equal time off to match tours of duty, was dismissed by Mr. Gates as "a backdoor way to try and force the president to accelerate the drawdown." ...

Before he sold his soul for the promise of a position in the Kerry administration Jim Webb used to be a respectable human being. I gotta wonder at this point what the Clintons have promised him.

They don’t call it Dearbornistan for nothing. From the Press and Guide:

On Tuesday, a nation honored those whose lives were lost during the tragic events of Sept. 11, 2001. But four days prior to the anniversary of the deadly terrorist attacks, a Wayne State medical student had city officials hoping that the event would not be marred by more bloodshed.

Houssein Zorkot, 26, was arrested Sept. 8 after he was observed wielding an AK-47 semi-automatic assault rifle in Hemlock Park, a popular destination for many Dearborn residents.

Bush Nominates Retired Judge Michael Mukasey
for Attorney General

WASHINGTON —  President Bush nominated Michael Mukasey on Monday to be the next attorney general, calling the retired federal district judge a candidate with strong credentials in national security and fairness.

"As the nation's chief law enforcement officer, the attorney general has an especially vital role to play in a time of war ... when we face the challenge of protecting our people on a daily basis from deadly enemies while at the same time protecting our freedom," Bush said in the announcement made from the White House Rose Garden. ...
