TNR challenges Weekly Standard’s claim that Beauchamp has recanted Allahpundit
Hot off the pixel presses: We’ve talked to military personnel directly involved in the events that Scott Thomas Beauchamp described, and they corroborated his account as detailed in our statement. When we called Army spokesman Major Steven F. Lamb and asked about an anonymously sourced allegation that Beauchamp had recanted his articles in a sworn statement, he told us, “I have no knowledge of that.” He added, “If someone is speaking anonymously [to The Weekly Standard], they are on their own.” When we pressed Lamb for details on the Army investigation, he told us, “We don’t go into the details of how we conduct our investigations.”
Note that Lamb isn’t denying it, just saying that if it’s true, no one’s told him yet. Goldfarb should offer TNR a deal: you burn your sources and we’ll burn ours.

The liberals say they support our troops, Which they’ve a funny way of showing; Like publishing false atrocity scoops Bout which they’ve no way of knowing. They’ll gleefully publish unverified crap From the dark mind of a wannabe writer, Hoping they’ve set another antiwar trap With crimes claimed by a liberal fighter.

Your Black Muslim Bakery employee charged in journo’s murder Michelle Malkin
Just in from SFgate.com: A handyman being held in the slaying of newspaper editor Chauncey Bailey was formally charged with murder today, while two other men arrested in last week’s raid on Oakland’s Your Black Muslim Bakery were expected to be charged in a separate case.
Devaughndre Broussard, 19, who worked at the bakery on San Pablo Avenue, is to be arraigned this afternoon in Alameda County Superior Court on charges of murder and being a felon in possession of a firearm — specifically a shotgun– for allegedly killing Bailey, Editor of the Oakland Post, last week.

It's not easy to pimp surrender, but some of our congressional and media worthies are giving it their best shot.
It won't be easy. Nobody but the loons think quitters, fakers, surrender monkeys and pessimists of various stripes are good custodians of the national interests, and the men and women who read the newspapers and magazines and watch the television newscasts are smarter than the men and women who write and preen for them. Americans are fed up with the Iraq war not because they think resisting jihad is wrong, but because they think the leaders at the top may not necessarily be serious about winning without apology. Anthony McAuliffe, who answered the German demand for surrender at Bastogne with "nuts" (if not something a little saltier), is the kind of general Americans admire most. ...
Report: Russians pressuring Iran re nuke program Allahpundit
If true, this would be a good thing. If it’s true. And if it’s not just a move by Putin to remind the Iranians who is boss. Moscow has warned Iran that it will not deliver fuel to a nearly completed Russian-built nuclear reactor unless Tehran lifts the veil of secrecy on suspicious past atomic activities, a European diplomat said Tuesday.
Separately, a U.S. official told the Associated Press that the Russians are not meeting other commitments that would allow the Iranians to activate the Bushehr nuclear reactor, and suggested the delays were an attempt to pressure Tehran into showing more compliance with U.N. Security Council demands. Both men demanded anonymity in exchange for speaking to the AP because their information was confidential.
